Noah’s Story

Like many parents of children with complex medical needs, the Risor family has received many insurance denials. Medical equipment, like Noah’s power wheelchair can cost thousands of dollars and private insurance only covers so much.  Unfortunately, wheelchair accessories such as seat elevation is widely viewed as a luxury add-on, despite vertical elevation increasing the user’s independence and quality of life. Noah is a 6th grader with cerebral palsy.  His wheelchair is his legs; could you imagine determining whether or not you were going to get out of bed based on whether your legs were going to be paid for?

UCP of Nebraska’s Client Assistance Program provided Noah with a seat elevation system for his wheelchair, now his accessibility is without limits!

“We’d like to send you all a big thank you on helping us cover the added expenses on Noah’s wheelchair! His new chair has allowed him to do so many ore things at home, at school and in the community.” Reann Risor
