Emily’s Story

Emily Gossard lost her father Daryl Fossberg, her best friend, to Alzheimer's disease at the age of 66, after being diagnosed just 4 years earlier, at 62. She says she lost her father twice, when he was diagnosed and when he passed away. She watched her dad change from a happy, fun-loving man to a totally different person, exhibiting behaviors that Emily says he would have been horrified to know he was doing. Emily is a passionate advocate for increased research funding at the National level too, she traveled to Washington D.C. in May as part of the delegation from the Nebraska Alzheimer’s Association Chapter. She is always available to speak at events, even on short notice. She has a way of connecting with donors because her story is, unfortunately, all too real and familiar to all of us. Emily is also unfortunately all too familiar with two other diseases that are part of the CHAD family. She lives with MS and her daughter with Type 1 Diabetes. Emily says, "I am passionate about knowing that my story and the journey I have been on helps so many others."
