Matthew and Joshua’s Story

Cindy’s life has been an extraordinary journey filled with love, perseverance, and profound gratitude. She is a devoted mother of two remarkable sons, both born with Chediak Higashi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that brings challenges most can scarcely imagine. In the face of countless obstacles, she took on the role of their primary caregiver and her goal has always been clear: to keep her boys at home for as long as possible.  Every day, she treats as an invaluable gift, for when they were born, doctors predicted they wouldn’t live past infancy and now they are in their twenties and thirties.

Cindy acknowledges that their journey would have been far more challenging without the support of United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska. United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska has been instrumental in providing the specialized equipment and services her sons need to maintain their quality of life as their physical disabilities advance. The organization’s dedication to being an indispensable resource to those with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, has allowed Cindy to fulfill her promise of keeping her boys at home! The assistance of UCP of NE not only benefits her sons but also ensures the safety and well-being of her entire family. Through their partnership, Cindy’s family has defied all odds and continues to treasure each day, cherishing the extraordinary gift of life.
